ORBILOC SAFETY LIGHTS - HOW TO MOLLE ATTACH - TIP-TAP No4

WHY DO WE NEED SAFETY LIGHTS

For this post I want to tell you about a small piece of gear that I suspect may have saved my life if not protected me from injury. The piece of gear I allude to is the ORBILOC SAFTY LIGHT.
ABOUT ORBILO SAFETY LIGHTS (review)

This is a tiny but super powerful, LED light that has a slim profile, it’s tough, visible up to 3miles, waterproof down to 100m and has a decent battery life, 200hrs plus. Best of all it’s simple to use, twist the bezel once for continually on, twist twice for off twist three times for flashing mode. For me the bezel operation is a little fiddle especially when wet and/or wearing gloves but an upgrade is available that looks a bit more chunky than my variant so easer to use I hope.

The ORBILO SAFETY LIGHT come with several ways to mount to a rucksacks, dog collars, bike handle bars or where every you need to mount it.

MUST REMEMBER TO CUT KNAILS BEFOR NEXT CLOSE-UP PHOTO SESSION!

The system I opted for was the ORBILO OUTDOOR DUAL option. The kit included; the light, two mounts, one of which was designed to work with an adjustable rubber strap, the second has two slots that a strap or the supplied hook and loop band can pass through. With this kit I would have thought it possible to mount the ORBILO SAFETY LIGHT where every you like, or does it?

"GOOD MORNING DAVE".

HOW TO MOLLE MOUNT THE ORBILOC SAFETY LIGHTS

So using the above we can mount the ORBILOC SAFETY LIGHTS to MIL SPEC MOLLE but in my opinion not very well.

If you want to mount your ORBILOC SAFTEY LIGHT to YOMP NOTES spec, this is how you can do it.

FIRSTLY, WHAT DO YOU NEED?

ALL YOU NEED TO CONFIG YOUR ORBILOC SAFETY LIGHT FOR MOLLE

This can be done with items included in the ORBILO OUTDOOR DUAL kit but we do need X2 25MM DURAFLEX SIAMESE SLICK CLIPS (Of course we do)

HOW TO SET UP

1. Make sure you have the twin slot mount fitted to your ORBILOC.

2. Using the suppled hook and loop strap, thread it through the slots of the mount so that the loop side is facing up.

3. Starting with the loop end of the strap, slide a slick clip onto the strap, then thread the strap back through the mount slot.

4. Now do the same with the hook side. This is a little harder to do as the hook will snag on its self but it can be done.

5. Close the hook and loop strap on the back of the ORBILOC.

PROJECT DONE

The out come is you now have a ORBILOC SAFETY LIGHT with a MOLLE comparable Slick Clip mounting method. If you’re a GORUCK fan you’ll be able to mount your SAFTEY LIGHT on your shoulder strap or anywhere there’s MOLLE.

IMPORTANT FOR RUCKING / HIKING

MOUNTED UP ON MY GORUCK SHOULDER STRAP

THE MOST IMPORTANT POSITION HELPS KEEP THE TRAFFIC OFF MY BACK

ORBILOC SAFTEY LIGHTs come in a lot of colours, (5 to be exact) I use a white light (forward) and a red light (backward) for the main purpose of keeping traffic off my back when when Rucking or running on the road in the dark and I’ll use them even if I’m off-road as they’ll make me easier to find (hopefully) if I get into trouble or for others to see me coming.

ORBILOC SAFETY LIGHT NOT RECHARGEABLE

NEEDING GLASSES THESE DAY, I  APPRECIATE THE HELP : )

The ORBILOC SAFETY LIGHT isn’t rechargeable but does come with a ORBILOC branded, long lasting 3V lithium battery, I say long last cos I haven’t had to replace it yet so can’t tell you that they can be replaced with a standard issue battery from the supermarket, but given ORBILOC’s super simple drop in and screw down way of fitting the battery I have little doubt that this want be a problem at all.

HERE'S MY GORUCK GR1 SET-UP FOR MY NEXT RUCKING MISSION

I’ve got to say I really like the attention to detail with regard to the battery. It has a little message telling us which side it should be facing light direction so we fit correctly, I love this, reminds me of the old day : )

IN CONCLUSION

The ORBILOC SAFETY LIGHT is small, light weight, low profile, tough, water proof, has a long lasting battery type and will help to keep you safe on or off road, what’s not to like? In my humble opinion, every GORUCK should have one : )

I need to also say that I don’t have a deal with ORBILOC in any shape or form, these are my options of my own equipment that I purchased myself.
