GORUCK - REFLECTIVE RUCK BANDS - TIP-TAP No2

HOW TO LACE GORUCK REFLECTIVE RUCK BANDS AND LOOK AWESOME. - TIP-TAP No2.

Every year at about this time (October) like a huge black bear prowling down from the north, with frigid breath and claws of ice bringing darkness, wind, snow to the land... winter comes.

So we have two options. We can curl up in a ball with blanket, a nice whisky a Netflix box set and wait for him to pass and spring to return. Or we can go out train and get on with it anyway. Ain’t no winter spirt in shape of huge black bear gonna freeze our buzz.

So with evenings drawing in and getting dark more early, (at least in my part of the world) it’s really important to be seen and keep that traffic off our backs.

GORUCK REFLECTIVE RUCK BANDS

GORUCK REFLECTIVE RUCK BANDS are simple reflective bands which are secured with a hook-and-loop strip. You can slap them on anything and anywhere but they work best weaving them onto the rows of MOLLE on the front of your GORUCK. I use a GORUCK BULLET 10L rucksack for running as well as riding it’s big enough for a 3L hydration bladder and small enough to force me not take too much other gear, just the essentials. Also featured in this post is my GORUCK GR1 26L in Multicam Black.

WHERE TO FIT

My GORUCK BULLET 10L has 3 rows X 4 columns of MOLLE on the front and that’s where my REFLECTIVE BANDS are attached. Super secure and focusing their reflective power right into the eyes of those cars and trucks bearing down on me.

HOW TO FIT ONE GOOD, ONE BAD.

First the bad or should I say... not so good. Being a simple band we can just lace it under the MOLLE and secure at the front, done! right? Not sure, I didn’t like the loop it formed, looked like a good way to get snagged to me, so I’ve come up with another lacing pattern that I think you'll prefer.

HOW TO DO

For this I’m going to assume you’re going to want to fit your REFLECTIVE BANDS to a GORUCK or simple MOLLE empowered rucksack.

1. Hold the REFLECTIVE BAND in front of you, reflective side up and with hook and loop strip in your right hand.

2. Flip REFLECTIVE BAND over and lace under all the rows of MOLLE
So you should have 1/3 to the top, 1/3 under all the rows of MOLLE and 1/3 sticking out the bottom

3. Next lace the bottom 1/3 back up and under the middle row of MOLLE

4. Lastly, flip the top 1/3 down and secure to the exposed hook and loop and you’re done.
This is a much cleaner way to secure your GORUCK REFLECTIVE BANDS, in my opinion.

HOT TIP

Doing it this way up means that if your dragging your GORUCK rucksack through the dirt, sand and mud it’s less likely the REFLECTIVE BANDS will get snagged and ripped off.

To traffic these simple but effective little bands of safety are like silver bullets to a werewolf or garlic to a vampire or pepper spray to your next door neighbour. Traffic hates em and gives them a wide berth, keeping you safer, injury, and death free.

This is a super simple TIP-TAP but I haven’t seen anyone else doing it so I thought I’d share.

Have a great winter, keep training and come out next spring, stronger and in one-piece.
