![]() |
In the past I have found load-outs to be really useful, in informing me of what gear is now available and what I could be carrying in an effort to make my hikes more comfortable and as safe as possible. with that in mind here's my my 2025 load-out, I hope you find it helpful.
My Day Hike gear has 3 main purposes:
- Gear I will almost defiantly use; Food, Water, Brew kit [for making tea] Wet weather gear, Extra warm clothing etc
- Gear that I may use occasionally: Tools, Fire lighting, iPhone charger etc
- Gear I might need if things go side ways: First aid, Signalling and Shelter, Navigation and Fire lighting.

Whatever the season I'll carry the same gear. In that way I can rely I'm carrying what I need without thinking too much about it. In my part of the world it can rain at anytime of the year and can be chilly late in the day even in the summer so wet weather and extra layers are always packed.
With above in mind and the trail in front of us, my gear list below.
Below is my total gear list. I don't use all this gear all the time. There are some options here for different hiking types I.E. long, short, hot cold and wet, you get the idea.
7 - RAVPOWER Rugged External Power Pack
13 - OAKLEY Sunglasses Bag
18.7 - MSR Fuel Canister

PACKED UP AND STRAPPED DOWN. EVERYTHING IN IT'S PLACE AND IT'S STAYING THERE. |
So this is my Day Hike gear load-out, larger than some, smaller than others and always changing.
For instance, recently I returning to using a small stove to heat food and water instead of the thermos flask that I used to carry. In this, freshly boiled water, although takes longer than simply pouring from a flask, will always be hot! I do like a good cup of tea especially in the afternoon so this is a good way to go.
