So the TEKKOs are a new range of cross body, urban compatible, EDC / TECH / CCW enhanced sling bags. Big enough to carry plenty more than just the essentials and small and stylish enough to fit in anywhere. Both TEKKOs are bigger than a large bumbag but smaller than a messenger bag, you get the picture.
Cross body sling bags are the way to go right now. For me they have two fat advantages over a rucksack. I can have hands free, chest rig style access to my gear and I don’t have to take it off when I sit in a vehicle. Basically I can go about my business without ever taking it off. It can be right where I need it and out of the way all at the same time and that’s genius.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS.
My first impression on pulling these bags from their packaging was “AWSOME”! they just look awesome in real life. The TEKKOs come in 3 color variants;
Solid Black,
Shadow Grey and
Multicam Black.

FAV COMBO, REAL LEATHER & MULTICAM BLACK. |
 |
REAL LEATHER DETAIL. |
I opted for Multicam Black which works great with the real leather, rich, dark chocolate, brand patches and there’s a second smaller ‘V’ patch on the carry strap! So the scene is set, these bags are all about quality and detail and I love the design, it reminds me of a country gents cartridge bag that’s moved with times. So where there was once canvas and buckle now there’s water resistant 600D Cordura and waterproof YKK zippers, for me it’s a bag that would not look out of place in a pay-as-you-go-hot-desk-tech-hub and board room or, on the other hand, a fine dinning restaurant / hotel set in a country house and run by one of Gordon Ramses’ ex head chefs, which is literally where I was last weekend. (Didn’t take any pictures cos? stupid.)
OK so enough of the smoke blowing what! are these bags really like?
First off what’s the difference between the TEKKO-4 and the TEKKO-6?
SIZE! yep, the -4 is 4 litres and the -6 is 6 litres and those 2 extra litres do make a difference. For me the -4 feels more like a large organiser, the -6 feels like a small bag! The TEKKO-4 front pocket has a single zipper, the -6 has a dual zipper and really that’s it! but is this good? Course it is, the designers over at VANQUEST have made some very clever design decisions that means, despite the size difference both bags are equally and fully featured.
LETS GET INTO THE FEATURES.
The TEKKO has a nice stream lined over shape the benefit of this is the main zipper has a nice sweep to it, up and over and you’re in. All the zipper on the outside of TEKKO are YKK UP-coated waterproof units, lockable and reversed for protection. A little over engineers for this bag? maybe but appreciated all the same.
OUTSIDE POCKET 1.
 |
TEKKO-6 FRONT POCKET. |
 |
TEKKO-4 FRONT POCKET. |
Dual or single zipper depending on the model you choose, inside is the VANQUEST signature Hi-Viz 210D rip stop lining. The -4 has a clean interior with a single, central cord loop with detachable key keep. The -6 has the above with edition of 3 elastic retainers, big enough for 9mm mags maybe? but equally useful for your favourite EDC gear.
OUTSIDE POCKET 2
 |
DISCRETE BACK SLIP POCKET. |
To the back of the of TEKKO is a discrete slip pocket with a single zipper entry. The interior is clean and Hi-Viz and the side next to the body when worn is hook ‘n’ loop, CCW comparable maybe?

1.5" CARRY STRAPS. |
 |
CARRY STRAP BUCKLE DETAIL. |
 |
BUCKLES TUCKED AWAY. |
 |
QUICK ADJUST BUCKLE. |
 |
SLING STRAP OPTIONAL EXSTAS - 2" REMOVABLE SHOULDER PAD. |
The main sling strap is quick to adjust and removable and 1.5"-wide. I thought this was a nice long strap being up to 56 inches and made of seat belt webbing, which is strong yet has a nice supple feel to it. If you remove the sling strap the buckles can be tucked into little pockets and hidden away. A really nice detail. You can also leave the attachment loops out so you can use them to attach your TEKKO to another pack if you need.
 |
BASE MOLLE. |
 |
SIDE UTILITY STRAPS. |
Despite the Multicam black color-way of my TEKKO, for me it doesn’t have much of a military chic vibe which I actually liked. However to the base of the bag is 1 row x 4 columns of MOLLE. To the sides are 2 pairs of utility straps for attaching more gear and pouches or maybe swinging the TEKKO if the need arrises.
HOOK ‘N’ LOOP.
 |
INTERGRATED HOOK 'N' LOOP PANEL. |
Yep this bag has a note worthy amount of hook ‘n’ loop for your moral patches and messages but given it’s a large panel it morphs into the design of the bag really well, the best example of this I think I’ve seen, so it’s there but not all-up-in-your-face about it, I like this a lot.
NEXT, TO THE MAIN COMPARTMENT.
 |
MAIN COMPARTMENT. |
Dual YKK zipper entry into a Hi-Viz EDC, OCD wonderland of gear organisation.
Most of the interior is hook ‘n’ loop giving you every and all options for customisation that you could ever reasonable desire : ) word salad? maybe but when I first took a peek inside I did feel like a kid in a sweet shop.
So what do you get to work with?
To the front is a large zipper pocket made from translucent Tough Mesh so you can see what’s in it, (kind of) to the front side of the interior is hook ‘n’ loop. Above this pocket are 2 cord attachment loops.
To the back of the interior is a large slip pocket, again the back side is hook ‘n’ loop and there are 2 more cord attachment loops above it.
 |
INTERIOR DROP POCKETS. |
To the face of the above are 2 quite large gusseted drop pockets. To their face, again is hook ‘n’ loop plus 1 row x 6 columns of elastic retainers, which also double-up as elastication for the drop pockets, helping to keep content in place no doubt.
THE CARRY HANDLE.
 |
0.75 WEBBING CARRY HANDLE. |
 |
HOUSE BRICK TEST : ) |
Last but by no means least there’s a light carry handle constructed from 0.75” seat belt webbing. It’s simple and none padded but it’s comfortable never-the-less even with weight in the bag I.E a house brick! Believe me I’ve tried it.
IN CONCLUSION - I ALMOST FORGOT.
 |
TEKKO-6 FITS A 11.5" TABLET. |
The main section of the TEKKO-6 has room for; up to a 11.5” tablet or an A5 note book or both if need demands. Indeed both TEKKO variants have room for cables, chargers auxiliary power banks and pretty-much most of the gear you’d ever need to commute with. Given it’s size, in both cases the TEKKO-4 and -6, are a very accommodating small bags / larger organisers : )
