TWIN CLIP RMP FIT or HOW TO ATTACH A RMP TO A GORUCK USING SIDE LOCK BUCKLES

HOW TO ATTACH A RMP TO A GORUCK USING SIDE LOCK BUCKLES.

It has been brought to my attention that I have been accused of a dereliction of duties.

During a post about x4 ways to attach your RIP / RMP to your GORUCK (BLOG POST HERE) I gave an example, example 3, described it as my favourite but then neglected to go on and describe in any detail that would be useful to the reader as to how to make the configuration for them selves.

For this I most humbly and profusely apologies and in the post, with all good intention, I hope to remedy that situation.

I give you the “TWIN CLIP RMP FIT” but that’s not all, this is an upgrade on the original.

WHY DO I NEED A RIGED MOLLE PANEL IN MY GORUCK? IT ALREADY HAS A MOLLE FIELD!

And so it does but for me there’s 2 reasons for fitting, especially a full sized MOLLE panel to your GORUCK.

1 The internal and integral MOLLE is only 7 columns x 3 rows. I wanted more room for my gear.

2 The GORUCK MOLLE field is none NATO standard, so great for attaching GORUCK Field Pockets but other MOLLE gear can be awkward to fit.

If the above look like they maybe issues for you???

LET’S GET INTO IT - 1ST, THE PARTS.

Your going to need:
Optional
This config is specific to the GORUCK.

DUAL ADJUSTABLE SIDE QUICK RELEASE BUCKLE.

ANATOMY

It’s going to be useful if you know the anatomy of a Dual Adjustable Side Quick Release Buckle. This type of buckle has a ladder lock for adjustment on both the male and female sides. For this config this is great as it means the buckle is going to fit nice and tightly to the strap.

Let’s start with your GREYMAN TACTICAL, RIDGED MOLLE PANEL.

First take your strap thread it through the female side of your dual buckle so that both buckles are on the same side of your strap, both are facing the same way and the loose end of your strap is at the bottom. Confused?
Checkout the imgs above.

Next and working from the back of your GREYMAN TACTICAL panel, pass the strap buckle through the one of the two centre MOLLE ports.

This will work best for you as these the two centre ports are best aligned with the GORUCK MOLLE. So once this config is finished and your panel fitted, it will be nice and centred to your GORUCK.

Next pass the loose end of your strap through the third MOLLE port down and within the same column. Check the images above.

Now turn your panel over and cinch everything up nice and tight. If you’ve carried this out correctly the loose end of your strap will be hanging down the panel.

As you can see I have a long loose end, I don’t mind this and tuck it away behind the panel using Web Dominators to keep things under control. Of course the benefit of this is that I still have useful strap I can use for other tasks if the need arises.

Repeat these stages on the next column of MOLLE so once finished, you have two female Dual Adjustable Side Quick Release Buckles, firmly strapped to your panel, side-by-side.

GORUCK RUCKSACK

Now it’s time to configure your GORUCK.

Basically this is the same process as with the RMP except this time, you’re working with the male side of the Dual Adjustable Side Quick Release Buckle and you’ll need both buckles to be same side of the GORUCK MOLLE.

Set up the male side of the buckle with your strap but this time both buckles will need to face downward with the loose end of strap coming out the top.

Checkout the imgs above.

NOW ATTACH THE STRAP.

You’ll need to pass the loose end of your strap behind 2 top rows your GORUCK MOLLE, pull them down then back to the front.

Checkout imgs above.

Then cinch up with the straps own ladder lock buckle.

Bearing in mind my ethos of retaining strap length, I’ve tucked the loose end back under the last row of MOLLE, continuing down to hide the remainder of the strap in the GORUCKS’ bellow pocket.

You know what to do, img above.

You’ll need to repeat this process so your; 2 male buckles parts are side-by-side.

WHY 2 BUCKLES?

Really and truly for me, I just like the look of it, rather than just having one buckle, one side of the MOLLE or the other. I guess I just like the symmetry of it. It dose make the panel more secure and prevents it from swinging around inside your GORUCK, especially if you have a smaller panel. I think it makes it feel more like part of the rucksack especially if running.

So that’s it, you’re done and your GREYMAN TACTICAL Rigid MOLLE Panel and GORUCK with; “TWIN CLIP RMP FIT” config are ready to snap in and go.

THE BENEFITS IN CONCLUSION

Why do this config at all, isn’t it OK just to throw your GREYMAN TACTICAL RMP into your GORUCK and go-for-it?

Well yep, you could do that but having the RMP strapped in means it’s NOT going to fall out when you don’t want it to. The quick release means you can remove easily, when needs be and get to gear stowed in the GORUCKs’ bellows pocket for instance. You may also have a couple GREYMAN TACTICAL RMPs’ set up for different scenarios, EDC work commute vs EDC weekend for instance.

You can snap-out, snap-in, have at it, get the race won and the day done knowing everything’s secure and ready when ever you need it.
