GREYMAN TACTICAL RIGID MOLLE PANEL - X3 MISSIONS X1 GORUCK
When I was a kid I would watch a TV show called “Thunder Birds” I’m going to assume that you’ve heard of the show and you know what I’m talking about, if not click the following link - Thunderbirds 1960s TV series So my favourite Thunderbird was Thunderbird 2! I loved the way it could select different pods for different mission. There was a pod for fighting forest fires, a pod for combating nuclear fallout and another for stopping giant alligators rampaging through the Everglades!
Q1 Is possible to use one rucksack (in this case a GORUCK GR1 26L) for 3 jobs?
Q2 Is it possible to switch out project specific gear from one job to another quickly and easily?

FIRST THE RUCKSACK
THE GORUCK GR1
I’ve talked about this rucksack before on this blog (YOMP-SPEED No1 GORUCK GR1 26L) and how I asked the GORUCK SCARS Dept to modify the rucksack for me. But in brief, I’ve modified the GORUCK so it now has a removable compression system, waist belt and sternum strap. There is also a removable external VANQUEST FATPack, emergency safety lights, signalling whistle, CAMELBAK hydration hose and the GARMIN TEMPE. This extra configuration can be added or removed depending on how I want to the use the GORUCK, I will detail this when we discuss the panels next.

But in brief:
What is a RMP? Acronym for Rigid MOLLE Panel so that’s what it is. A MOLLE / PALS panel that can be inserted into any bag giving the interior a MOLLE organisation capacity.
They come in most popular bag sizes i.e. 511 TACTICAL, GORUCK, RECYCLE FIRE FIGHTER etc and can also slide into cross body bags such as a courier satchel. I’ve even used one in a fishing bag, worked great. In this case the panel is laser cut from high strength, very stiff polyethylene. I like this a lot as it gives my GORUCK the organisation I want but it’s also slick and clean in the bag and only 0.188" thick so takes up next to no room. The best feature for me is that it’s most defiantly rigid! making it easy to open pouches or grab and pull out gear, as one can pull against the panel especially if it’s also strapped / anchored to your bag. There are other MOLLE panels out there but for me this project wouldn’t be possible without the GREYMAN RMP.
X3 off GREYMAN TACTICAL RIGID MOLLE PANELS (RMP)
RMP No1 OPTIMIZED FOR EDC - Panel size: 10.75" x 17.00"
As I use this config every single day it is the most hard working therefore the developed, refined and simple. This is about being clean and simple, it’s most important job is keeping my iPhone safe and secure and allowing it to be charged while carrying. The core of my EDC being organised and in place while leaving plenty of room in the GORUCK for day-to-day gear such as files magazines paperwork snacks etc. I think it’s pretty important that my EDC bag is not absolutely stuffed with gear.
EDC LAYUP
Top is the GR1 FIELD POCKET for a less structured dump-all, light paperwork and a general Nick-nack-carry-pack. This can be removed from the main EDC and used as a grab-and-go-bag. Below is a VANQUEST HYDRO BOTTLE POUCH hat is used for securing my RAVPower auxiliary source (battery) and MOLLEd to the front of this is a MAXPEDITION PHP this where my iPhone sits.my iPhone is synced to my GARMIN FENIX smart watch so I can receive messages and alerts there and in this scenario I use the iPhone like a personal WiFI, 4G hotspot and hard drive.
Next to this setup is another VANQUEST HYDRA POUCH. This is primarily used for carrying my morning coffee which is exactly what it was designed for.
Between the two Hydra is a VANQUEST PPM HUSKY organizer. This isn’t MOLLED to the RMP like the other pouches, instead it swings vie it’s grab handle and a carabiner. This works well as I can swing the PPM out of the GORUCK, making it really easy to find what I need with removing it.
Behind the RMP I carry my laptop in a dedicated laptop sleeve. I’m intending to replace this with a TAD Transport Sleeve soon. The EDC panel is usually strapped inside the GORUCK. This is a smaller panel than the others so strapping it in stops it from swing around inside my bag and keeps my laptop cinched down as well.
RMP No2 READY FOR HIKING (YOMP-ENGINE) - Panel size 10/75" x 19.00"
This is the biggest panel and fits the GORUCK GR1 26L well. I hardly ever strap it down, instead I use the pack compression straps to do that job. Like the EDC panel this RMP is organised into 2 zones. YOMP-ENGINE LAY-UP
The top x2 pouches are: 1. for day hike rations and 2. a brew/cook set. This needs to be accessed at least 2 or 3 time during a day hike so you can see why it's at the top.
Below is important gear but less likely to be used. Wet weather gear, over pants are in the left VANQUEST STICKY CUBES and a waterproof Gore-Tex jacket is in the right.
To the centre is a stainless steel NALGENE BOTTLE with a TATONKA MUG slipped on the bottle. Love it when gear from two different companies works together like that. With exception of the twin pouches at the top, this gear is cinched to the RMP with shock-cord rather than PALS straps or hook and loop, this option keeps gear in place and yet gear can be pulled out when needed.
RMP No3 GORUCK RUCKING, X-COUNTRY & STREET RUNNING (YOMP-SPEED) - Panel size 10.75" x 19.00"
This is the newest RMP config, for running, go-rucking, and speed hikes. I talk about speed hikes and the YOMP-SPEED rucksack config here: (YOMP-SPEED No1 GORUCK GR1 26L)
YOMP-SPEED LAY-UP
This panel lay-up starts with with hydration in the form of a CAMELBACK MIL SPEC 3L ANTIDOTE short hydration bladder. I chose this variant over the more familiar tall variant because it’s SHORT and leaves room, once in place, for gear to be MOLLED above. The ANTIDOTE is cinched down to the RMP using a TRIPLE AUGHT DESIGN (TAD) TRANSPORT TAIL. This works well as the Transport Tail can be un-clipped to access’s the hydration bladder and adjusted, as the bladder empties, this stops it swinging around. Super important when running.
Using the Transport Tail MOLLE field I’ve cinched a NALGENE BOTTLE. To be doubly sure it’s also clipped in place with sml carabiner. This is an easy to open and close, water-tight stash for hike rations.
In the TAD S2 pouch I keep a TRAILMASTER SWISS ARMY KNIFE.
The 1040 PELI CASE is very import if one of my speed marches turns wet, with a river crossing or swim this is where my imports tech is stashed. Car keys, iPhone, spare batteries, my head torch as well as small First aid kit. The PELI CASE is held in place with shock-cord, which is hitched over the loops at either side of the case. This means the case is removable if needs be.
Buoyancy was a big consideration for the YOMP-SPEED config. I mentioned river crossing and swimming earlier in the post. This is a big part of my YOMP-SPEED brief. That we learned things and unless we keep doing them, we forget. This is a post for another day but let’s just say, that if you’re going for a swim with a rucksack, it’s good if the rucksack floats : ) As it stands, this config floats well enough but I have a couple of ideas to improve it so may need up-date this post.
So at the beginning of this post I asked 3 questions, the most important being: Can we use one bag for 3 jobs easily and conveniently? Well it appears we can but we need the help of the GREYMAN.

Great setup! Maybe I'm missing it, but I'm not seeing the drinking hose that connects to the Nalgene bottle. Any chance you could add a link to that?
