Uluru / Kata Tjuta / Ayers Rock / Australia

Uluru [Ayers Rock] - A world heritage site situated in the red centre of Australia, you know where it is. In 2015 my wife and I were very privileged to be able to pop over for short but very interesting visit,
so interesting that it has inspired me to want to return and do a more extended mission and hike maybe for charity, all a long way off and still very much in the scribbled notes in the back of napkin, planning stage.

I have always liked the idea of a desert yomp. In theory I like the simplicity. Sand, sun, distance; direction and water being the basic priorities... in theory. So this trip a belated Honeymoon yes but also a RECCY for something more later.

This is a pithy photolog of our mission from Ayers Rock resort to Uluru to Kata Tjuta and back again.

KATA TJUTA LEFT, ULURU RIGHT AND IN THE FAR DISTANCE A BLOODY LONG WAY!

UNUSUAL BUT I THOUGHT INTERESTING VIEW OF ULURU FROM THE SOUTH.

ONE OF THE EUCALYPT TREES AT THE SKIRTS OF ULURU.

LOOKS JUST LIKE A COILED, VENOMOUS SNAKE.

BEAUTIFUL ROCK ART BY SOME OF THE LOCALS.

STUMP? A WOODEN POST CUT AND HAMMED INTO THE GROUND, IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. WHAT COULD ITS STORY POSSIBLE BE?

LOCAL WILD LIFE. A JUVENILE FRILLED LIZARD [I THINK] AND A GENERIC SKINK OF SOME SORT.

KATA TJUTA GETTING CLOSER, THAT'S WHAT YOU THINK, ITS A LOT BIGGER THEN IT LOOKS.

THE VALLEY OF WINDS. BRIDGES AND HANDRAILS? NOT IMPRESSED : )

MY WIFE AND I AND TWO COOL NEW AMERICAN FRIENDS. KATA TJUTA.

LOVE THIS PIC. I LOOK LIKE I'M COMING IN FOR BREAKFAST AFTER MILKING THE COWS : ) MINIMAL KIT.

LOOKING VERY KNACKERED [TIRED] KATA TJUTA LEFT, ULURU RIGHT.

SUNSET AT KATA TJUTA WORTH THE WAIT BUT 4-5 MILES FROM HOME!

CtA [Call to Action]
